The Complete Peanuts

I’ve been reading The Complete Peanuts by Charles Schulz. Twice a year we are treated to a two year collection of Peanuts comics.
Over the last few years I’ve developed a deep appreciation for Schulz’s work. From the beginning to end of the Peanut’s run he wrote and drew each Sunday & daily. The drawing in itself is quite simple, but to my untrained eye it multiplies the brilliance of his words.
The words, which often are simply hilarious, often tell of the struggles of the human condition. Charlie Brown is depressed because of his round head and simply being ‘Good ole Charlie Brown.’ Lucy is so self absorbed that her own mother has awarded her the Fussbudget of the Year trophy. ‘Pig Pen’ is one character that is completely at ease with himself.

‘Pig Pen’ is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters.
