Oh Tall Tree In The Ear
Once I realized I listen to music to help me feel like I’m not alone. I find listening to songs the same as listening to other’s stories; in the midst of thier tale I will hear about myself. In the same way I can hear parts of myself in songs and these are the songs I enjoy.
Roman Candle’s lastest record, Oh Tall Tree in the Ear, is full of these sorts of songs. My first new favorite is the second song One More Road. Here the band sings of the allure of the next road but not in the “grass is always greener” sense. Ultimately the hope of the next new road is the hope of finding home.
As a man living far from the familial home this search has been the primary search of my life. Call it a niche or a community the need for a home is a deciding factor in most of my decisions. Hopefully when I find it the allure of staying put will greatly outweight the allure of a new road.
